CLEVELAND — A former Lakewood postal worker has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for stealing nearly $2 million worth of checks from the mail, according to federal authorities. Gregory Drake, 35, of Cleveland, was sentenced to 41 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Bridget Meehan Brennan after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and theft of mail by a postal employee. ... Okolona mail dumping allegation leads to USPS employee's resignation

"... LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Complaints about missing mail in the Okolona area have led to a federal investigation, and now, a United States Postal Service employee has resigned.

The USPS Office of Inspector General confirmed an allegation of mail dumping was made at the Okolona Post Office last week. Several residents recently said they haven't received mail in weeks and worry it may be connected to the incident.

"I hope mine wasn't in there," Terry Herp, a postal customer, said outside the Okolona branch Tuesday.

According to the OIG, mail was found inside an employee's vehicle parked on postal property. ..."

Former Colorado postal employee admits to stealing ballots ahead of 2024 election

"Vicki Stuart, 64, was charged with 34 counts related to the ballot theft scheme, which occurred in the lead-up to last year’s presidential election. She pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft and one count of forgery in the 21st Judicial District Court. ... Stuart and another woman stole more than a dozen ballots from Mesa County residents before they could be delivered to the intended voters. The goal, prosecutors said, was to test the state’s voting safeguards.

The scheme was uncovered when some voters alerted authorities after the Colorado Ballot tracking system informed them their ballots were being processed, even though they hadn’t received their ballots yet. ..."

USPS to release stamps, booklet to mark 250th anniversary

"...The first release — a 32-page booklet titled “Putting a Stamp on the American Experience” ...Both the booklet and pane are scheduled to be released in July and will be available at Post Offices and usps.com.

On July 26, 1775, the Second Continental Congress established “a line of posts” from Maine to Georgia to create a network of communications that kept Colonists’ messages from falling into the British Crown’s hands.

This postal system later became the Post Office Department and then the U.S. Postal Service.
